During the summer, everyone needs a good read. Lucky for me, I was able to get my hands on some of the most popular books in young adult fiction. Today I will be reviewing two of these books to help you decide if it’s a book you’d like to read.
The Fault In Our Stars, by John Green, is an excellent novel that includes romance, first love, and much, much sadness. Although it is a wonderful book, you’ll want to have a box of tissues by your side for the melancholy moments. The novel centers around sixteen year old, Hazel Grace Lancaster, an atypical teen who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when she was young. Hazel lives life as any normal teen would; reading, going to the mall, and talking with friends. As many of you probably know, Hazel meets seventeen-year-old Augustus Waters, who flips her somewhat boring and ordinary life upside down. Overall, this book is a must read and is absolutely delightful. If you haven’t read The Fault In Our Stars yet, head over to your local bookstore and pick up a copy today. This book deserves to be a classic!
Veronica Roth’s Divergent is an action-packed novel that has splashes of romance and family love. This very popular young adult fiction book follows Beatrice Prior, a sixteen-year-old girl who must make a choice that will determine her future. Her choice influences her actions, along with the friends she makes and the opinions she has. Beatrice is strong, valiant, and determined, but all the same she has her insecurities and doubts. Praise for female lead characters! Not only does this book want you to read on and on, but also the romance in the book (no spoilers) is to die for. Praise for Divergent and Veronica Roth because they both have stolen the place of my favorite book and favorite author.
