Summary: A poem of arctic terns
Somewhere on tundra you will sate
your life aloft, O Arctic Tern,
a rest for you, for you and mate,
Through flight and flair you will churn
the air and sea, a lifelong date!
A race that life will dare to learn
To lead the colony and navigate,
align the stars to magnetic plane
and skate a planetary figure eight,
Where I, so dizzy to sun’s long reign,
must dial daylight, as our one fate
contains the prize for which we strain.
These tall soul-journeys of splendid strait,
campaigns to Poles that must migrate!
