Summary: A plan is hatched to foil the Elf on the Shelf

‘Twas the week before Christmas and inside the house,
All was quite decorated by me and my spouse.
The tree sparkled brightly and there on the shelf,
Sat grinning back at us, the know-it-all Elf!
He often seemed active, first here and then there,
He stuck nosy nose into, oh, everywhere!
He knew all our secrets, the good and the not.
I knew he’d remember what we’d wish he’d forgot!

And into St. Nick’s ear, he planned to divulge
All of the fun mischief in which we’d indulged.
Now, into my mind there evolved such a plan
To thwart all his efforts to our Christmas, ban.
The tattler would not get us both in deep Dutch.
Yes, it was apparent, this Elf knew too much!
I’d wrap him in paper and box him up tight,
And lock him away ’til after Christmas Eve night,
Then, the next morning I would set him free,
When tattling on us, far too late it would be.
